Puerto Rico Solar Panel Project
The United Methodist Churches of the Roanoke District are working to assist families who were devastated during Hurricane Maria in Vieques, an island off of the coast of Puerto Rico where 9,000 persons are still without access to power.
This Easter Season, the churches of the Roanoke District are invited to receive financial gifts toward the
purchase of solar equipment. A solar panel emergency power system offers a clean, renewable energy source without the need for expensive generators or fuel. The Roanoke District is working directly with the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) to raise funds to provide Solar Panel kits to Puerto Rico.
Each Church/ Charge is invited to raise a financial gift for a Solar Panel kit. Individual and business donations options are available.
Join us in our effort to Share the Light
After reaching our goal, we are planning to send a District Mission Team to help the installation of the Solar Panel Kits.
